I am late again … this time in wishing my self … and my blog. Exactly one week ago I turned 28 and five days ago my blog turned 1 … so happy birthday to both of us. To celebrate this happy occassion, and to welcome the new year, and to break the long break I took from blogging, and to wish my compatriots Happy Republic Day lets have something sweet.
Something sweet like an Indian sweet which I love. Despite the fact that I love sweets, this is the first sweet dish I am posting on my blog. The reason … DH doesn’t like sweets … and when the DH doesn’t like something, it just does not get made.
So here is my favourite of favourite sweets. Ladies and gentlemen I present …… the Gulab Jamun….
Ingredients
Milk Powder – 1 cup
All purpose flour – 1/4 cup
Baking powder – 1/8 tsp
Baking soda – a pinch
Milk – 1/4 cup
Ghee – 1 tsp
Oil for deep frying
For syrup
Sugar – 2cups
Water – 1 1/2cup
Cardamom powder – 1tsp
Knead the APF, Milk poweder, baking soda, baking powder, ghee and milk and make a smooth dough. Cover it and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
In a heavy bottomed pan, add the sugar and water , and bring it to a boil, simmer it until the sugar is well dissolved and the syrup gets an almost thread consistency. Add the cardamom powder and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a kadai and make small balls with the dough. Fry the jamuns until they turn an even light brown. Add the jamuns to the sugar syrup and keep aside for a few minutes and try to stay away if you can.
I promise you cant.
BTW did you know one among myraid names that people call me is Gulab Jamun … go figure …
